How challenging dinner planning can really be, not to mention time consuming. Building a plan that satisfies everyone in your house along with fitting your weight and health goals. Oh and don’t forget keeping it exciting so you don’t get sick of your typical options. All of these reasons are why people avoid planning which then results in unwanted calories, dinner time stress, take out multiple times per week, unnecessary money spent just to name a few.
Take an hour on Friday night to think about what your family likes to eat, write down 3-4 go to meals that everyone enjoys. One common meal is pasta and meatballs. Keep that in the weekly rotation (you can pre make the meat sauce or meatballs), have a spaghetti squash on hand (cook in the microwave under 5 mins) and use half of a small one as your “noodles” with the meat sauce to stay on track with your weight goals while having virtually the same meal as the family. To add bulk be sure to add a ton of veggies to the sauce; frozen spinach, peppers, onions, mushrooms and even a salad on the side to ensure you are fuelling and filling with the right stuff. Another tip is making big portions, enough to serve over 2 meals so you have simple lunches on the go for the week. Keeping your goals in mind as your busy days take over. Hard boiled eggs are an amazing and simple Sunday make to have for snacks on the go. Chop a ton of veggies as well so you don’t have to think about snacks Monday- Friday. Planning becomes simple as it becomes more routine and you create that habit week to week.
